The newlyweds are gone, and life is back to semi-normal! We are still cleaning up after the party *8>)

Until then, I hope that you enjoy today's article. I have taken a little different tack than usual, but I believe that time management is crucial to success in any endeavour.

Are You Wasting or Investing Your Time?

Time is the most precious, most valuable resource that you have. Time is the greatest equalizer of human beings. If you don't admit this and treat time with respect then you will only lose what little time you have. It doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, healthy or sick, you only have 24 hours a day to use wisely, or by default to fritter away.

Like most of us, you probably waste some of your time and energy worrying and thinking about things like how to win more money or how to live a better life. While you are doing this, you are usually forgetting about the most important thing – the time in which to live your life. A wise man will always tell you, “You can always make more money, but you can never buy more time.”

How are you investing your time?

How often are you aware of the ways in which you invest your time? The word “investment” is the most accurate descriptor because the way you choose to spend your time is a true investment in your own life and yourself. You are unlikely to find the true value of time in the way people around you act and talk.

People usually spend hours of time in front of the TV, or they spend a lot of time browsing the 'Net with no purpose whatsoever. Some of us even try to steal more time at the cost of healthy sleep hours. If you wake up earlier in the morning just to smoke a few cigarettes and to fill yourself up with coffee so you won't feel sleepy, it doesn't mean that you have won quality time. Working inefficiently or spending more hours at work than you have to is equal to giving a chunk of your life to someone else.

People frequently say things like: “I'm just counting the hours before I can go home” or “I wish it were Friday” on a Monday and so on. These are huge neon billboard signs that this person is prone to wasting much of his/her time.

Planning for Success

If you don't have a plan, you can't determine whether you are investing or wasting your precious time. My grandfather told me, many, many years ago that if you don't have goals, you can't if you are winning or losing? Before you can invest your time efficiently, you must write down your goals for your life as succinctly as possible. Once you have done this, it is very easy to identify whether an activity contributes towards achieving your life goals. If an activity is not helping you reach your life goals, then you need to carefully consider why you are doing it! If you organize your time efficiently and if you choose to do only activities that move you closer to your goals, then you will find yourself able to work every day with increased energy and vitality.

Any moment that you are just letting time pass by, think about the Roman saying, ”Carpe Diem.” It has great meaning for our everyday life. It means “Seize or Live the day” or better yet “Organize your day”. Make more time to analyze the way you invest or waste your time.

Remember that yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet, and so the only day you have is today, so “Carpe Diem!”
