We're baaack! We had a nice trip to Minneapolis, although we did spend a bit more than I planned. We have a couple of weeks of quiet time to enjoy my wife's beautiful ponds and gardens before we head off to see our kids and grandkids for a bit. When we were younger, we didn't mind the two day drive, but now days, we prefer to fly and rent a car at the other end. All this buzz about Dell batteries bursting into flames had me worried, but I checked mine out at Dell.ca and it looks like mine is not on the recall list. Whew! It certainly took them long enough to decide on a recall. Now that they can't compete on price alone, I guess that they will need to improve their customer relations and service - what a humbling thought.
Until next week, I hope that you enjoy today's article.
Drive Traffic To Your Site With A Tell A Friend Script
Most webmasters have the recurring dilemma of how to increase the flow of traffic to their web sites. During the past few years many methods have been developed to solve this predicament. While most of them should work, many of them would not make even a small impact on traffic flow.
One of the methods that has spawned many success stories in driving traffic into web sites is viral marketing. Viral marketing makes use of the tendency of a person to share something that they find informative, entertaining or amazing.
Many companies bank on this behaviour to spread knowledge of their products and to increase the popularity of their company or their web site. Viral marketing can make use of almost any media in enticing this behaviour. It might be in the form of an interesting story, an addictive flash game, an amusing video, or any other idea that may catch a person’s fancy.
This ingenious form of marketing is typically low cost and is a wonderful tool for any web site to utilize. The benefit greatly overshadows the cost or efforts to initialize this marketing scheme. Any web site could benefit greatly from a dose of viral marketing.
Tell A Friend Script
One of the easiest methods in viral marketing is using a tell a friend script, like I have at the bottom of every newsletter page. This is a simple programming script that you can attach to any or all pages of your web site. Generally, tell a friend scripts are installed on pages where there is interesting media so that a person can easily send the media (or the URL of the page containing the media) to any of the reader’s friends or family members.
The basic concept of a tell a friend script is a small script wherein a person may input his name and/or e-mail address, along with the recipient’s e-mail address and then send the information to the intended recipient just like an ordinary e-mail. Because the recipient sees the sender’s name as someone he or she knows and trusts, the e-mail is received as valuable, not spam mail.
A tell a friend script greatly eliminates the chances of being blocked because it uses the information input by the sender. This allows for wider spreading of the marketing material. It is very effective. Some might describe it as quite sneaky, but it works well!
When the e-mail is opened by the friend, either the media or a link will be clicked, and the material then will be read, viewed or played. It is possible to include a brief description of the company or site that sponsors the media, along with the mail. This allows for the introduction of either the site, the company name or its products. Once the new person has read, viewed or played the media, the new person should also be given an opportunity to “Tell a friend.”
If they do, then the process begins again. As more people use the tell a friend script, more and more people will know of the existence of the sponsoring company or site. People who have read the ads inside the media and who liked what they saw would hopefully take action. This would drive traffic into the site resulting in an increased number of potential customers.
Tell A Friend Script Availability
A tell a friend script is very simple and does not require any complicated programming. In fact, you can copy and paste the script on any and every intended page. Finding one is even simpler. All you have to do is go to a search engine and type in the search box “tell a friend script” then press enter or clicks on go.
In the search result’s page you will see many links that will direct you to sites where you can get a tell a friend script. It is just a simple matter to look for the script that matches your programming skill level, and copy it to your intended web page or pages.
With a tell a friend script viral marketing strategy you can drive traffic into your site which could potentially spell increased profits. This is a simple script that offers great benefits for low or no cost, especially if is paired with creativity and foresight.
It is imperative that you have patience when using a tell a friend script. Normally, traffic builds slowly for a bit, and then starts to increase ever faster. But, if your chosen media doesn’t get the mileage that is expected of it, even after allowing some time for it to get spread or shared, you may need to rethink your page and the related media. Tweak the page and the media until you get the desired response.
Once, you have created a good page with great media, and the traffic starts to flow, many people will see your ads and there is a very great probability that they will visit your site intent on making a purchase.
Until next time…
