The use of video on Internet Marketing sites is increasing daily. Marketers are claiming sales increases of up to 50% simply by the addition of a short video sequence. I have been reluctant to use video because of the bandwidth it consumes. Unless you have a cheap source of bandwidth, your web host will undoubtedly be looking for upcharges if your video is too popular. I know my web hosting account has a cap on the number of bytes that I can use before a surcharge applies - as you may recall, I was close to breaching it just by mailing out my newsletters.

Since there are already lots of people using videos, I may be forced into buying more bandwidth and putting a few up on my site. What’s your opinion, should I include videos or not. I was going to have you fill in a survey, but after wasting an afternoon trying to get survey software to work in this server - I have it working on two other??? - I have finally given up for now.

There are many tips and techniques to creating video for the web. Today I am going to talk about why you might want to create video for your site - or really, an inside look at the thinking processes I am going through trying to decide if I should use video on my sites *8>)

Increase Your Income With Videos

What better way to wow your prospects and customers than to record and publish top notch, full motion and streaming screen-captured videos. There is nothing like feeling that your hard work is paying off by having your customers jumping up excitedly to buy your product right there and then.

This is web video in action. It is a proven fact; at least that is what the users of web video are saying, that giving your customers something they can actually see can explode your online sales instantly.

You do not need to have a great deal of training and video experience to be able to create stunning videos, from multimedia tutorials and step-by-step presentations available online. The process is like having your customer seated next to you and looking at your desktop, as you show them the things they need to see and hear, step by step, about your product.

For those who have not worked with web video, you need have no fear. With free or inexpensive programs you can record or capture, edit and publish your video in no time. Windows ME and XP have video software included - a tad more complicated than necessary, I think, but easily mastered non the less.

Once you have your video created, you can easily convert your videos into web pages. Since videos are generally easier to understand than reading text for most people, your potential clients can get a better understanding of your product - thus, fewer questions and less returns.

You can upload your pages to your web site, publish them through blogs, RSS feed and podcasts. You may want your web videos to reach as many people as possible that may be potential customers. There is nothing like being visible on many sites and pages to advertise yourself and get your message out there.

Uses of web videos

You can…

  • Create stunning multimedia presentations that are proven to increase sales because all the senses are engaged. This also has the tendency to reduce skepticism among hard-to-please customers.
  • Reduce refunds and other customer issues by demonstrating visually how to use your product properly. Complaints will also be minimized because you can put all the facts in the presentation for customers to see and hear.
  • Promote affiliate products and services using visual presentations. This is an effective way of redirecting your viewers straight to your affiliate web site after they are finished with the video. Make the most of the presentation by putting your affiliate location at the end and directing them to go there if they want more information.
  • Multiply your online auction bids exponentially when you give your readers a feel of what you have to offer. Based on reports by successful ebayers, auctions that include pictures increase bidding by 400%. Imagine how much higher the bidding would be if you were to use videos.
  • Publish valuable info products with full coloured graphics and short videos. You should be able to sell them for a much higher price.
  • Minimize miscommunication with your customers by instantly showing them the essence of your offer.

These are just some of the things you can do with web videos that can be very helpful in marketing your products or company.

Note that the main purpose of using web videos is to boost your income. Video can be used for entertainment and enjoyment purposes, which in itself might draw potential customers to your site.

So far, I have not seen a lot of negatives to web video, other than the learning curve, time spent creating the video, and the potential bandwidth surcharges. But these can be formidable obstacles to using web video. I’ve played around with video from time to time, and I think it will take me about a week to create, record, edit and publish my first video, if I decide to take the leap.

How about you? Will video enhance your sales efforts?

Until next time…

warmly,
